FT. Myers, FL, May 26, 2010 – Becker & Poliakoff today announced that shareholder Michael R. Whitt, a real estate and business litigation attorney in the firm’s Southwest Florida practice, has been appointed to the Florida Bar's Eminent Domain Committee by incoming Florida Bar President Maryanne Downs. This one year appointment is effective July 1, 2010.

The Eminent Domain Committee is responsible for keeping the members of the Bar informed of significant developments in the field of condemnation of private property for public use by governmental agencies or private companies who have the power of eminent domain. The committee maintains liaison with private companies and governmental agencies who have and use the power of eminent domain, and studies and considers legislation, law or problems in the area of eminent domain law.

Mr. Whitt focuses his practice on business, real estate and government related litigation. Based in the firm’s Naples and Ft. Myers offices, he is a member of the Florida Bar Real Property, Probate and Trust Section and the Real Estate Investment Society in Lee County.

Mr. Whitt received his B.A. Degree from Northern Kentucky University and his J.D. degree from Nova University, Ft. Lauderdale. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1987.
